If God has told you to do something and it seems totally crazy, ironic, hopeless, etc. - just go ahead and do it anyhow. Now, I know you might be thinking...that's so "not-impressive" - and I know it may seem a given but, have do you ever feel like throwing in the towel? Giving up? ?What's the use? Shoving your head in the sand? I'm sure we've all had those feelings at one time or another in our lives. Well, I've got some encouraging news to share with you today. Listen up!
Remember the story of the disciples toiling all night and catching no fish? Then Jesus commanded them to go back out? They were fishermen, they knew when the fish were biting and when was the right time to be on the water. And, at that time of the day when Jesus spoke to them....the fish weren't biting. Nevertheless, the disciples took him at his word. And what happened? They came back to land with nets so full of fish that it seemed the nets would break. OK, we all know that part. Let me get to the good stuff.
When they got back to land, Jesus was on the shore with a fire ready, and fish cooking. They had obeyed what the Master had said, had gotten more-than-enough fish, and now they were about to be treated to supper too! Here's the catch....obedience. You see, we have to keep on keeping on, even when it seems hopeless.
If you're having a rough day, week, year, etc., just hang in there and follow what the Lord has commanded of you. Don't give up or give in! Who knows, Jesus might already be sitting on the shore preparing you a meal you'll never forget. Who wouldn't want to partake of a meal prepared by Him? The work's already done...just take Him at His word. What an honor to sit next to the chef of that meal! Is Jesus cooking your dinner? Hang in there!
